WHY DO WE SHOUT?

ng Thought provoking story sent by Anupam Karn to Paulo Coelho, who tweeted it

A master asked his disciples:
Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?’
the disciples thought for a while, and one of them said
‘Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.’
‘But, why to shout when the other person is just next to you? ‘Isn’t it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you’re angry?’
The disciples gave him some other answers but none satisfied the master.

Finally he explained:
When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.’
Then the master asked:
What happens when two people fall in love? They don’t shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small…’
And he finally said:
‘When they love each other even more, what happens?
‘They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love.
‘Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that’s all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.’
A huge lesson to integrate soon in one´s life ...

Enjoy life!

STABILITY, FLUIDITY, BALANCE AND BODY

From @Havi Brooks (and duck) I got this criptic and appealing message: "SPECTACULARLY great post fromJesse, a.k.a. @persnicket: The Balance Expedition: sad monster & snakes. http://bit.ly/bT38qF".

I got there, discovered MY SEED HOUSE and read through the post. I´ll pick this lines from it, that will sure be a good reminder for you, too.

... The two different pieces of balance

One image I got from Shiva Nata-ing about balance looked something like this:

Two powerful things held together by a bond of energy. When I asked for more clarity about this, I realized that the two things are the two parts of balance: stability and fluidity. These are the two qualities that must be maintained together in order for balance to work, of course.

Stability is:
  • Structure
  • Rationality
  • Strength
  • Knowledge
  • Stillness
Fluidity is:
  • Openness
  • Creativity
  • Flexibility
  • Intuition
  • Flow
Stability without Fluidity is: rigidity. Painful tension. A rut.
Fluidity without Stability is: floppiness. No boundaries. Chaos.
(One caution: these are true for me. Not universally true!)
The connection between the two is the body. This was an important clue for me, something I know but perhaps hadn’t solidified into words. Connection with the body brings these two things together. Bringing stability into the body, bringing fluidity into the body, this creates balance.
Pursuing balance seemed kind of tricky when I started this week of inquiry: because isn’t balance just a state you achieve? Like mindfulness — easy to get, but hard to maintain? So shouldn’t I be able to get there instantly?
Well, maybe it’s a little bit like that. But this image and the idea of the two qualities I need to cultivate, fluidity and stability, this gives me a path to follow. I can choose activities that cultivate one or the other.
So helpful...

Very helpful for me, too, indeed!

"WE HAVE DONE IT OURSELVES"

Go to the People;

Live among them;

Love them; Learn from them;

Start from where they are;
Work with them;
Build on what they have.

But of the best leaders,
When the task is accomplished,

The work completed,

The people all remark:

"We have done this ourselves“

… Lao Tse

Irv Sheffey from the Sierra Club sent this piece by Lao Tse (the author of the Tao de ching) to the OSLIST. May it inspire us! Irv says: "I operate from it in my work with community and I believe it reflects the self-organizing philosophy underpinning OST (open space technology)."

Then Spark, agreed: "It truly describes what happens from practice of OST. Becomimg a presence of Totaly Present  and Absolutely Invisible!"

Ride the wave :-)!

TODAY IS MY DAY, I OPT TO FLY

I came across this brilliant written piece by Nicola Karesh through a tweet by TheLoveOlution and I republish it now here.
Have you ever coloured outside the walls?
Have you ever ridden along the halls,
of places that are stamped forbidden,
off-limits, unauthorized to you?
Have you ever dared to see what’s there,
beyond the edges, rims and stairs?
Descended into unchartered territory,
pushed past lines that hold you here
in safe regions of known layers?
Do you feel that edge that seems unmovable?
Do you see the lid that appears unshiftable?
Expand your vision,
set free imagination.
Let soar wild nature,
surrender restriction.
Life is full of undiscovered areas,
Blocked passage-ways, roped off places.
If you ever venture outside the pages,
written and stamped by cautious sages,
you may be surprised to discover
there is more waiting just for you.
Venture deep.
Open wide.
Life exceeds the expectant eyes.
a willing spirit without agenda,
slips beyond perceived barriers.
Discovers more beyond the veil.
Discovers locks can fade away,
shifting into unknown vistas,
cascading realms, bordering heaven.
Today, I toss away my helmet
that says I can’t, I mustn’t,
I ought not.
I let loose of inhibition.
Today is my day.
I opt to fly.

JOHN CLEESE on CREATIVITY

Christine Whitney Sanchez sent to the Oslist this video on which John Cleese talks about The Tortoise Enclosure - Creating a Safe Atmosphere for Creativity - we must create clear boundaries of space and of time...
Christine says "Sounds like open space to me." and sends warm wishes from hot Phoenix.

Best wishes form my new home in Mundaka,
